Central Government has initiated One District One Product (ODOP) in all States/UTs of the country, as a transformational step towards realizing the true potential of a district, fueling economic growth, generating employment and rural entrepreneurship, taking us to the goal of Aatmanirbhar Bharat. The initiative aims to select, brand, and promote at least One Product from each District (One District – One Product) of the country for enabling holistic socio-economic growth across all regions.

ODOP Product of Wardha District:

Cotton Yarn is notified as One district one product of Wardha district. Legacy of Charkha- a hand driven spinning wheel –promoted by Mahatma Gandhi in Wardha is continued through its practice in Wardha till date. Abundant Cotton Production due to favorable geographical conditions, 65+ ginning and 6 spinning, weaving and processing units make the Cotton Yarn identity of Wardha.

Highlights of Action Plan Report for promotion of ODOP:-

SITP is launched to build world class textile manufacturing infrastructure in India. SITP Is aimed to set up textile manufacturing units under PPP model.

  • Dedicated ODOP Cell has been constituted by district administration in District Industries Centre, Wardha
  • Regular Conclaves, Events, Workshops and Meetings are conducted for promotion ODOP production and Export
  • ODOP GeM Bazaar was launched on the Government e-Marketplace (GeM)  platform to promote sales and procurement of ODOP product across the country.
  • ODOP products are showcased in various International forums such as G20 -C20 Meeting in Nagpur in March 2023.
  • MOUs have been signed with Academic Institutions and Industrial Associations in this regard.
  • District Export Promotion Committee (DEPC) has been constituted. ODOP  District Action Plan has been prepared for District.
  • Promotion and Awareness Activities are being carried out in consultation with DGFT, EPCs,  firms like Ernst and Young.
  • Logistics and Infrastructure are being improved through Sindhi Dry Port, Wardha ICD, National Highways, Expressways, among others.

  • DEPC meetings are being conducted in district for promotion of ODOP.
  • ODOP and Exporters conclave organized by DIC on 11 October 2022.
  • Sector Specific (Ginning, spinning) meets are organized by DIC Wardha.
  • Department of Agriculture is undertaking ‘Smart Cotton’ Project for quality improvement of cotton.
  • Toolkits are provided for awareness generation for quality improvement of khadi and cotton yarn.

Central Government Schemes

Scheme for Integrated Textile Park (SITP)
    SITP is launched to build world class textile manufacturing infrastructure in India. SITP Is aimed to set up textile manufacturing units under PPP model.

Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme :

    The PLI Scheme is intended to promote production of MMF Apparel & Fabrics and Technical Textiles products in the country to enable textile industry to achieve size and scale; to become globally competitive and a creator of employment opportunities for people.

PM Mega Integrated Textile Regions and Apparel (MITRAs) Parks Scheme :
     Ministry of Textiles has issued a notification to set up 7 Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) Parks with a total outlay of Rs. 4,445 cr.

Amended Technology Up-gradation Scheme (ATUFS) 
   ATUFS is aimed towards technological up-gradation of textile industry machinery.
Micro and Small Enterprises – Cluster Development Program.

Prime Minister Employment Generation Program (PMEGP)
15-35% credit based subsidy of project cost given to beneficiary for manufacturing and service activities
